THE Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) has launched a new online membership system in a bold move to modernise its operations and rejuvenate its public image.

The initiative forms part of MIC’s broader transformation agenda, aimed at making the party more dynamic, progressive, and accessible to Malaysians of all ages.

Party officials emphasised that the shift to digital is not merely about adopting technology, but about renewing the organisation from every angle.

“We’re streamlining processes, reducing bureaucracy, and removing barriers that have long made it difficult for new members to join,” MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri M.Saravanan said in statement on Sunday.

“The online system allows applicants to submit their details digitally. Once processed, they are automatically registered as MIC members, making the process faster, simpler, and more accessible.”

The platform is also specifically designed to attract younger Malaysians, including Generation Y and first-time voters.

“We want MIC to be a party that speaks to the youth, that reflects their energy and aspirations,” Saravanan added.

The digital membership drive aligns with MIC’s wider commitment to leveraging modern technology in managing party affairs and maintaining relevance in Malaysia’s rapidly evolving political landscape. - November 16, 2025
