Temporary bridge at ECRL construction at MRR2 collapses, crushing car driven by woman

A WOMAN in her 40s faced a terrifying moment when the Suzuki Swift she was driving was crushed by metal beams from a temporary bridge at the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project on Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 (MRR2) near the Gombak Toll Plaza, Kuala Lumpur, today.

Assistant Director of Operations, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Selangor, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the incident occurred at about 1.47pm.

According to him, a team from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately deployed to the scene of the incident upon receiving a distress call.

“Upon arrival at the location, we found the car crushed by metal beams from the ECRL construction site.”

“However, the victim was successfully removed by members of the public before the arrival of firefighters,” he said.

A total of seven firefighters and two engines were involved in the operation. Authorities are currently conducting further investigations into the cause of the incident. – November 18, 2025
