RESOLVING Sabah’s persistent ‘three-pronged’ crisis involving water shortages, inadequate road infrastructure, and unreliable electricity supply will require strong political will and coordinated planning, according to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) joint election director Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Speaking at a public forum in Sandakan on Tuesday, Saifuddin highlighted that political commitment must come first before any practical solutions can be implemented.
“We must put it this way, the state government, to be fair, has many plans, including to manage these same problems. We are also aware that addressing these issues requires substantial funding,” he said.
Saifuddin emphasised that tackling the so-called ‘three-pronged’ issues demands a phased and structured approach.
“Political will must come first, followed by a clear policy. Only then can initiatives and programmes be introduced. That is how we can solve it. It must be addressed progressively and systematically,” he added.
He also underlined the importance of strong collaboration between the Federal Government and the Sabah state administration to achieve meaningful progress.
The remarks come in the wake of ongoing public concern over the enduring impact of the three-pronged crisis, which continues to affect the daily lives and welfare of Sabah residents.
