"THAT is his view...he has never discussed this thing with me." - This was the response from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over a proposal by the Selangor Menteri Besar for Nurul Izzah Anwar to take over his role as the MB.
Caught by surprise, Anwar appeared puzzled and shrugged off queries about his daughter's potential ascension to the role of Selangor Menteri Besar.
Yesterday, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari admitted suggesting that Izzah, the PKR deputy president take over his role as Selangor Menteri Besar.
Amiruddin said that he had voiced the proposal to Nurul Izzah and it was up to her to take it up or not.
"I can say that maybe it's a good formula for placing Nurul Izzah so there isn't any perception or stigma linked to nepotism and such.
"Honestly, I have told Nurul Izzah herself, it's up to her whether she wants to take it or not," he said on Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Sufian Hamdan's podcast, Keluar Sekejap.
He was responding to Khairy's question on whether there was a possibility that Nurul Izzah would contest a Selangor state seat and become the Selangor Menteri Besar.
On a possible Cabinet reshuffle, Anwar told reporters in Johannesburg that the move was to fill vacancies.
To a statement by Amiruddin that he was ready to move on to the federal level, Anwar, who was door-stopped by reporters after a dinner meeting with the Malaysian diaspora here, said: "Okay, that is number one...what about number 2 and 3...there are 3 vacancies at least. Can you suggest some names...I will consider." - November 22, 2025
