AUTHORITIES have ordered the evacuation of two apartment blocks comprising 104 units in Taman United, Seputeh, after a landslide on a nearby slope threatened the residential area early Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre received reports of the incident at 11:02 a.m., prompting a team from the Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station, equipped with two fire engines and 11 personnel, to rush to the scene.

Deputy Fire Officer Armdan Mahat confirmed that the landslide, estimated to span approximately 60 metres, damaged two cars and several motorcycles while also encroaching upon the nearby low-cost apartment complex.

“One car was buried under the debris, while another was overturned. The landslide extended into the surrounding apartment area,” he said in a statement.

Following consultations on-site with representatives from the Seputeh parliamentary constituency and engineers from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the two apartment blocks along with nearby premises were ordered to be vacated due to ongoing soil movement and heavy rainfall.

Armdan reassured the public that no casualties have been reported and that the fire and rescue team remains on-site to monitor the situation and respond to any further movements of the slope.

The precautionary evacuation underscores the authorities’ vigilance in mitigating risk to residents amid persistent adverse weather conditions. - November 24, 2025
