'I was not in any karaoke' - says Hulu Langat MP, dismissing the allegations as slander
“I did karaoke on the night of November 22 at the Sulabayan DUN after being asked by the community there," he said - November 25, 2025

HULU Langat Member of Parliament, Mohd Sany Hamzan, has refuted claims that he was 'busy' singing karaoke in Sabah while his area was hit by floods.

Describing the claim as slander, Mohd Sany, however, admitted that he had performed a song while campaigning for the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN-17) in the Sulayaban State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

However, he clarified that the program took place on November 22, not yesterday, when the Hulu Langat Parliament was hit by floods.

“I did karaoke on the night of November 22 at the Sulabayan DUN after being asked by the community there.

“They told YB to sing a song because YB has a good voice…so when I was asked by the community, by voters…I sang a song.

“I only sang it in front of the public, in front of voters, I didn’t sing with any girls at 2 or 3 in the morning,” he tolda press conference at the Parliament today.

However, Mohd Sany added that he rushed back from Sabah yesterday after receiving news that his parliamentary constituency in Hulu Langat had been hit by floods and immediately went to the field to inspect the disaster.

In fact, he said, this morning he also had time to inspect the condition of flood victims who were placed at the SRA Dusun Nanding Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS), in addition to checking on the progress of students who will be sitting for the SPM examination.

Meanwhile, Mohd Sany, who is also the Election Director for Amanah, added that he was ready to forgive those who spread slander against him on the issue.

"I think we've had enough of playing politics, because we already know that the opposition ... like Perikatan Nasional (PN) and PAS ... they don't have anything more to sensationalise.

"Just my reminder, don't do it again (slander) when the people are struggling and burdened by the flood disaster, we should all come together to help," he said.Earlier, several social media platforms claimed that Mohd Sany was busy campaigning, including singing karaoke, in Sabah, when the Hulu Langat parliamentary constituency was hit by floods yesterday due to continuous heavy rains that affected several main roads and residents' homes.

In the Sabah PRN-17 which will be held this Saturday, the Sulabayan DUN seat is contested by Amanah candidate Mohd Zulfikar Ab Mijan representing PH in an eight-cornered contest. - November 25, 2025
