AUTHORITIES in Sabak Bernam have dismantled a migrant smuggling operation following three coordinated raids that led to the interception of an unregistered pom-pom boat in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The operation, which commenced at 2:15am today, resulted in the arrest of seven individuals, including land-based organisers, boat operators, and assistants, all of whom are foreign nationals. In addition, 101 undocumented migrants aged between 16 and 56 were detained, among them 30 women.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the raids were conducted at a residential premises, Sekinchan jetty, and Sabak Bernam waters by the D3 Anti-Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Unit (ATIPSOM), in collaboration with the Marine Police and the Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (MAPO).
“One of the boat operators was a 19-year-old male who also drove a van transporting the migrants,” he said.
During the operation, the joint patrol successfully intercepted a wooden pom-pom boat with no registration number. “All 101 migrants, including 30 women, were found to be without valid travel documents,” Shazeli added.
Police also seized 13 mobile phones and cash amounting to RM157. The case is being investigated under Section 26A of the ATIPSOM Act 2007 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. - December 2, 2025
