PUCHONG UMNO has cut off all forms of political cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) Puchong, following the recent statement made by Puchong Member of Parliament, Yeo Bee Yin, over Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s verdict.
Its Secretary, Mohamad Yusof Mohamed Yassin stressed that the action was taken following Yeo's failure to issue an apology within 24 hours despite being given the opportunity to do so.
“Therefore, any informal understanding no longer binds Umno Puchong and is not responsible for safeguarding or defending the political interests of Pakatan Puchong,” he said in a statement.
The letter was also submitted to UMNO Secretary-General, Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajidi Dusuki and Chairman of the Selangor UMNO Liaison Body, Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.
According to Mohamad Yusof, this decision covers the Puchong Parliament level as well as two State Legislative Assembly seats, namely the Seri Serdang and Seri Kembangan state seats.
UMNO Puchong stressed that it will no longer hold joint meetings, coordinate political activities or campaigns, or collaborate on election strategies with PH Puchong.
“Puchong UMNO Division does not agree and rejects the attitude, statements and actions of PH Puchong leaders. Puchong UMNO is of the view that the party’s dignity, the principles of the Federal Constitution and respect for the institution of the Malay Rulers have been challenged and disrespected,” the statement stressed.
Although this action shows strong opposition to PH Puchong, UMNO stressed that it does not mean the party is leaving the Unity Government at the national or state levels.
“It is a local political stance, as long as it does not conflict with the decision of the UMNO Supreme Council or the Barisan Nasional leadership at the Central level,” he explained.
Last Monday, Yeo posted saying "Another reason to celebrate the end of this year", following the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to reject Najib's application to serve the remaining six-year prison sentence under house arrest, on the grounds that there was no legal mechanism that would allow it to be implemented. – December 27, 2025
