THE Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) has decided to take no further action (NFA) on 47 corruption charges related to Yayasan Akalbudi funds, involving Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In a statement today, the AGC said that following this decision, the case is closed, in line with the powers and discretion of the Attorney-General under the Federal Constitution and relevant laws.
The AGC said the decision was taken based on professional and legal considerations, taking into account the interests of justice, the integrity of the prosecution process and the need to ensure certainty and transparency in the criminal justice system.
On Sept 4, 2023, the High Court granted Zahid a DNAA on 47 charges of criminal breach of trust, corruption, and money laundering involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds.
The High Court made the ruling after the prosecution informed the court that the AGC intended to discontinue proceedings against him.
The AGC, in a statement last year, stressed that the DNAA for Zahid was in strict compliance with the law.
The chambers had also said that its application for a DNAA on Sept 4, 2023, was based on the circumstances at the time, including the need to conduct further investigations. – January 8, 2026
