A SENIOR officer of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) had his statement recorded at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today, involving an investigation into the misuse of Ministry of Defence (Mindef) funds.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said no arrests have been made so far, and the officer arrived for his statement to be recorded at around 11 am.
"Any further information or developments will be communicated later.
"It is sufficient for me to state that he was called to assist in resolving an issue or allegation of fund misuse. So far, we have only called him," he said.
It was earlier reported that the investigation into the alleged misuse of Mindef funds by MACC is expected to uncover the involvement of another senior military officer.
According to sources, the individual involved is currently under investigation by the MACC, and is in its final stages.
Meanwhile, Azam Baki also confirmed that MACC is conducting investigations into several senior ATM officers in relation to the case.
However, he did comment further on the investigation being conducted, other than to inform that the investigation process is now in its final stages.
According to him, the investigation involving allegations of misuse of public funds cannot be taken lightly, and strict action must be taken if there are elements of wrongdoing.
"The case being investigated is also separate from the probe involving the former army chief," he said.
He asked all parties to give MACC space to conduct a thorough investigation and not to make any speculation that could affect the investigation. – January 11, 2026
