THE mystery surrounding the disappearance of a hearse van belonging to the Sentuhan Setia Kasih organisation was resolved yesterday after the vehicle was believed to have been taken by a former volunteer of the welfare group.
The organisation’s founder, Shahrol Muhammad, 46, said the van was discovered missing at about 3pm when it was no longer at the parking area of the organisation’s premises.
At the time of the incident, Shahrol said the keys to the hearse van had been kept in a container due to the absence of a designated wakaf room for key storage.
“Apart from the vehicle, less than RM100 from the charity donation box was also reported missing,” he said.
He added that the disappearance immediately raised suspicions, leading the organisation to link the incident to a former volunteer who had previously been removed from the group.
“The suspect is our former volunteer who was expelled from the organisation because he was believed to have mental health issues,” he said.
Following a police report, Shahrol said the suspect was traced and detained by the authorities together with the hearse van last night.
“The case has now been fully handed over to the police for investigation and further action,” he said. - January 16, 2026
