A BUS driver and three passengers escaped unhurt after their express bus rammed into the fence and surau of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Jawa 2 at Kilometre 3 of Jalan Selinsing-Kok Lanas at about 4.30am.

School security guard Jamek Othman Hamzah, 48, said he was conducting his routine patrol when he was startled by a loud crash.

He rushed to the scene and was shocked to find the bus had ploughed through the school fence and struck the surau.

“The bus was carrying three passengers and a driver.

“However, all of them survived. This is the second accident to have occurred at the same location,” he said when met at the school in Pasir Puteh today.

Jamek said an earlier accident involved a sports utility vehicle (SUV) that lost control and crashed through the surau fence.

The July 5 incident killed two Indonesian women and injured four other people.

The two women, aged in their 30s and 50s, died at the scene from severe injuries to several parts of their bodies after the SUV they were travelling in veered off the road and crashed into the surau at about 6.34am. - October 12, 2026
