THE deaths of a school principal and his wife, found in their home in Sri Aman, Sarawak, have been confirmed to result from stab wounds, authorities announced on Friday.

The principal, aged 45, sustained 11 stab injuries to his neck and chest, while his 44-year-old wife, a nurse, died from a stab wound to the neck, according to forensic findings.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said post-mortem examinations were carried out at the Forensic Unit of Sarawak General Hospital.

“The cause of death for the male victim is confirmed as neck and chest injuries due to stab wounds,” he stated.

“The female victim’s cause of death is confirmed as neck injury due to stab wounds.”

Mohamad Zainal added that, to date, police have recorded statements from 21 witnesses, including family members, neighbours, and colleagues of the victims.

“The investigation into this case continues thoroughly and meticulously. The true motive behind the incident is still under investigation and has not been fully determined,” he said.

The police are conducting the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code and emphasised that it is being carried out professionally, transparently, and based on forensic evidence and witness statements.

Members of the public were urged not to speculate and to respect the privacy of the victims’ family.

The couple, residing in Taman Mutiara on Jalan Brayun, were found unresponsive at their home at 6:55 a.m. on Wednesday following a tip-off from the public.

Following the post-mortem examinations, their bodies were returned to Sri Aman for burial.

The brutal deaths of the principal and his wife have sent shockwaves through the local community, as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack. - January 16, 2026
