A 13-YEAR-OLD girl faced a terrifying ordeal on Sunday evening when she was allegedly abducted while inside a car near a secondary school in Section 25, Shah Alam.
Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol said the incident occurred around 7pm before authorities received information from members of the public.
The victim had been sitting in the back seat of a Perodua Viva, playing on her mobile phone after asking her father for the car keys to start the engine, Ramsay explained.
“Investigation found that the victim requested the car keys from her father to start the engine because she wanted to sit in the car. She was seated in the back seat and using her mobile phone,” he said in a statement on Monday.
Ramsay added that the suspect entered the vehicle and only became aware of the girl’s presence when she screamed.
“The suspect did not act violently but merely instructed the victim to remain quiet,” he said.
Thanks to information provided by the public, the girl and the vehicle were located safely on the roadside near a restaurant about four kilometres from the initial scene.
“The victim did not sustain any injuries but remains traumatised by the incident. The vehicle was inspected by the Forensic Team of the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters before being taken to Shah Alam Police District Headquarters for further action,” he said.
Efforts to track the suspect are ongoing, and the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft and Section 363 for abducting a minor from lawful custody.
