THE Social Welfare Department has completed the seizure of two out of three daycare centres that recently went viral over allegations of child neglect and abuse in Selangor.
Selangor Social Welfare Department director Azmir Kassim said the action involved daycare branches located in Section 3, Shah Alam, and Kota Kemuning.
“Yes, that is correct, they have been seized. We have settled the process of returning the children to their families and carried out the seizure,” he said. “Two have been completed, namely in Section 3 and Kota Kemuning,” he added when contacted last night.
Previously, it was reported that the department had revealed three childcare centres operating in Shah Alam and Prima Puchong that became the subject of public attention following allegations of neglect and abuse were not registered as daycare operators under the Child Care Centre Act 1984.
The premises were also found to be in unsatisfactory condition, lacking a conducive environment and failing to meet basic safety requirements.
Meanwhile, Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol said police have so far received three reports related to the case, including one lodged by the parents of the boy involved.
He said preliminary investigations found that the 11-year-old autistic child who was allegedly confined at a private daycare centre in the district had been sent to the premises since six years ago.
“We have also recorded a statement from social media influencer Caprice to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001,” he said. - January 23, 2026
