DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim will meet with Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, to propose that the large-scale pig farming project in Bukit Tagar be cancelled for now.

The Prime Minister said that the Cabinet, in its meeting today, was of the view that the issue involving environmental factors and the concerns of the people of various races around the new area should be given attention.

"I will discuss with the Menteri Besar (Amirudin) to get his opinion, if possible, cancel the project first and consider, if possible, a better area with the condition that the technology is guaranteed.

"Even if the technology is good, but in an area that causes concern, it certainly should not be continued," he said after performing Friday prayers at Surau Al-Amin, Bandar Baru Bangi, today.

Anwar said the second option might be to develop the project in the same area where there is livestock, with strict conditions on new technology.

Last week, Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shari, said the Selangor government has yet to find an alternative site to replace Bukit Tagar for the relocation of pig farms in the state.

However, he assured that the state government remains open to discussions with all parties to ensure a more orderly and comprehensive livestock management system. - January 23, 2026
