A SINGLE mother from Thailand was ordered to pay RM6,000 in fines by the Magistrate’s Court in Batu Pahat on Monday after admitting to soliciting clients for sexual services and violating her temporary social visit pass.
Magistrate Arun Noval Dass ruled that the 43-year-old, Rattanavadee Khomgrajang, would face a nine-month prison term if she failed to settle the fines, which she subsequently paid.
According to the charges, Rattanavadee solicited clients for sexual services at a hotel in Plaza Lian Hoe, Jalan Abu Bakar, at approximately 7.10 pm on 21 January.
Police from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters conducted a raid on the hotel, discovering the accused in a hotel room with a male client. During questioning, she admitted to receiving RM250 in cash for providing sexual services.
Further checks with the Immigration Department revealed that Rattanavadee held a valid social visit pass but did not possess a valid work permit, placing her in breach of immigration regulations.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan, while the accused was represented by lawyer Tan Song Yan.
