THE Port Klang Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has confiscated six containers carrying an estimated 225,597 kilograms of scheduled waste, in a significant enforcement action at West Port yesterday afternoon.
The seizure follows a physical inspection of nine containers conducted under a multi-agency operation led by the Commander of AKPS Port Klang, Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal.
AKPS Director General Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain confirmed that six of the containers were found to contain goods listed as prohibited imports under the Environmental Quality Act.
"Inspection resulted in the detention of six containers transporting goods listed as prohibited imports under the Environmental Quality Act," he stated.
He added that five of the containers contained various types of e-waste, including circuit boards, fuses, industrial fuses, and copper, while another container held copper wires, with the combined weight totalling approximately 225,597 kilograms.
"The importation of scheduled waste is strictly forbidden under the Environmental Quality Act 1974," he emphasised.
The seized containers are to be secured in a safe area pending notification from the Department of Environment for potential re-export.
"AKPS will continue to inspect commercial containers suspected of carrying prohibited waste and will strengthen border control and enforcement measures to safeguard national sovereignty and interests," he added.
This latest operation follows a similar raid on Tuesday, when AKPS Port Klang and associated agencies detained five containers containing scheduled waste, as well as industrial and commercial refuse, with an estimated weight of 125,037 kilograms. - January 31, 2026
