PAS has moved to quash speculation that it intends to push Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin out of leadership positions within Perikatan Nasional (PN) or Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), insisting that the party remains committed to coalition unity.
Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, speaking after the ongoing PAS Retreat Programme in Bangi today, stated that the matter was never raised during the closed-door retreat, which began on Friday.
“It’s not true, not true. PAS wants to continue with Perikatan Nasional, with unity,” he said, emphasising the party’s continued support for the coalition.
He added that the retreat did not cover other issues concerning the party’s strategic direction, underscoring that PAS has no intention of leaving PN to contest the next general election independently.
Speculation regarding PAS’s stance intensified following claims by Muhyiddin’s former principal private secretary, Datuk Marzuki Mohamad, who alleged that persistent criticism from both within Bersatu and from PN component parties was aimed at pressuring the Bersatu president to step down.
Abdul Hadi’s statement, however, sought to dispel any notion of internal manoeuvring against Muhyiddin and reaffirmed PAS’s commitment to collaborative governance within the coalition. - February 1, 2026
