BUKIT Aman has crippled three international and local drug trafficking syndicates with a total seizure value of RM208.25 million.
The series of special operations conducted from January 30 to February 3 saw the arrest of 13 individuals, including foreigners who are believed to be the main masterminds, drug mules and transporters for the syndicate.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) Director, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the success through 'Op Apiocera', 'Op Diogma' and 'Op Allograpta' was the result of continuous intelligence efforts to combat drug smuggling activities that have made Malaysia a transit hub and market.
According to him, the largest seizure was successfully carried out in 'Op Apiocera', when police uncovered the syndicate's tactics of using luxury residences as storage for synthetic drugs worth RM180 million.
"The raids, which were carried out from January 31 to February 2, focused on a terrace house in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur and a condominium in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
"As a result of the inspection, the police found a huge amount of drugs ready to be distributed. Among those seized were MDMA powder weighing 843.8 kilograms (kg), Erimin 5 pills (325.2 kg), Ecstasy pills (104.3 kg), Ketamine (97.7 kg) and Methamphetamine (9.5 kg).
"Investigations found that this syndicate was masterminded by a local man who acted as the leader of the syndicate. He was assisted by a foreign woman who was also his girlfriend to manage the drug trafficking operations for the local and overseas markets.
"To evade the authorities, they rented a residence in an elite area before using it as a packaging and storage centre," he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), today.
According to Hussein, police also seized three luxury vehicles, including a Toyota Alphard, Honda Accord and Perodua Myvi.
Meanwhile, in a separate raid through 'Op Diogma' on February 2 and 3, the syndicate's cunning tactics of using drug mules to smuggle 'marijuana flowers' abroad were successfully foiled at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 1.
"Follow-up operations were also carried out around Selangor and Penang, leading to the arrest of six individuals aged between 31 and 37, which include three local men and a local woman.
"The seized 188 kg of cannabis flower drugs are estimated to be worth RM15 million. Initial investigations revealed that the drug supply was smuggled in from a neighbouring country via the rat route in Chuping and Padang Besar, Perlis.
"The supply was then taken to the Klang Valley for temporary storage before being attempted to be smuggled out of the country using the services of foreign drug mules by air," he said.
He said that on January 30, his party also launched 'Op Allograpta' and successfully intercepted a shipment of Methamphetamine drugs weighing 265 kg worth RM13.25 million.
"Three local men aged between 40 and 48 were arrested in a raid at the Genting Sempah Rest Area (R&R), Pahang and in a parking area around Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur.
"The syndicate's modus operandi is to use a rented car to transport drugs from Kelantan to the Klang Valley. The vehicles containing the drugs were then left at a certain parking area before being picked up by other syndicate members without having to meet face to face," he said.
According to him, all nine suspects are now being remanded to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 while three suspects in the Allograpta case have been charged in court today under the same section.
"PDRM insists that it will not compromise with any party, including the 'sharks' involved in this crime to safeguard the security and image of the country," he said. – February 6, 2026
