AN elderly man was left injured after being attacked and threatened in a road rage incident triggered by a minor traffic accident near the Suntex Batu 9 traffic lights in Cheras on Sunday.

Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, said police received a report from the 69-year-old victim at 4.49 pm regarding the incident.

"The incident arose from a minor collision involving the complainant’s vehicle and the suspect’s car," Naazron explained in a statement on Monday. He added that the victim suffered bruising to the eyes and tongue as a result of the assault.

The suspect, a 52-year-old local businessman, was arrested at 11.30 pm on the same day in Kajang.

"He has been remanded for two days to assist in investigations under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code," Naazron said.

Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact their nearest police station or Investigating Officer Sergeant Ganesan Ramachandran at 012-6089180 to aid the investigation.

"Mos t importantly, the public is advised to obey the law and act responsibly to ensure public harmony and safety are preserved," Naazron added.
