A MAN suspected of causing the death of a motorcyclist in a traffic collision at Padang Jambu junction in Melaka has been remanded for four days to assist police investigations.
The 35-year-old logistics worker, who was driving a Perodua Myvi, appeared before Magistrate Uthman Abd Ghani, who granted the remand until Saturday following an application by the investigating officer, Inspector Ahmad Adwa Jamal, under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Police confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving resulting in death.
The collision occurred around 2 p.m. yesterday, involving six vehicles, including three motorcycles.
The motorcyclist, Mohd Shahrol Anuar Md Roby, 44, who was riding a Honda EX5 from Bukit Beruang, was reportedly on his way to collect a disabled child from school when the Perodua Myvi entered the opposite lane and struck him while he had stopped at the traffic light.
Mohd Shahrol Anuar was pronounced dead at the scene from severe injuries to his head, face, and body.
Three other individuals sustained injuries in the crash and were treated at Melaka Hospital.
Melaka Tengah Police District Chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said, “The driver has been taken into custody to facilitate the investigation. The case is being handled with the utmost seriousness given the fatal outcome.”
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the vehicle crossing into the opposite lane and causing the tragic incident. - February 11, 2026
