THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has denied allegations that former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli is being investigated.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said that so far, the MACC has not opened any investigation papers regarding the alleged RM1.1 billion embezzlement involving a senior minister.
He said the MACC is still examining details submitted by three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that filed complaints regarding the matter and have submitted a number of documents.
"I stand by the statement of my own deputy (Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya) who stated that the investigating officer is examining the documents.
"So why is there an allegation that a raid on a certain individual (Rafizi) will be carried out," he said as reported by Berita Harian.
Earlier today, Ahmad Khusairi was reported to have said that the MACC was still examining the documents submitted by the NGOs involved before deciding whether to open an investigation paper.
Azam said that every investigation conducted by the MACC adheres to the principles of transparency and the laws of the country.
Yesterday, the MACC confirmed that it was examining documents regarding alleged embezzlement amounting to RM1.1 billion linked to a senior minister.
This followed several NGOs that came to the MACC to file a report.
Earlier today, Rafizi, at a press conference with several PKR MPs, claimed that based on internal MACC sources, he would be raided by the agency. – February 13, 2026
