FORMER deputy president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, was met with enthusiastic support from party loyalists at a special address and media session in Nibong Tebal on Saturday afternoon, following his recent sacking from the party.
Arriving at the Alumni Clubhouse of the University of Malaya (PAUM) at approximately 2.45 pm, Hamzah was greeted with chants of “Reset! Long Live Hamzah!” from representatives of around 120 Bersatu divisions present at the event.
Earlier, Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee arrived at the programme around 2 pm to attend the address alongside Hamzah.
The gathering comes in the wake of a sweeping disciplinary decision by the Bersatu Disciplinary Board, which expelled a total of 17 party leaders yesterday.
The move was communicated to party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin through a formal notice titled “Notification of Disciplinary Board Decision on Breaches of the Party Constitution,” dated Friday.
The notice confirmed that written complaints had been submitted by BERSATU members against the respondents regarding violations of the party constitution and the Code of Conduct.
Hamzah, who previously served as deputy president, was among those expelled, alongside three other Members of Parliament and two state assembly representatives.
The MPs affected include Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang), Kapten Azahari Hasan (Padang Rengas), and Fathul Huzir Ayob (Gerik).
The two state assembly members are Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin (Sungai Manik), also a member of the party’s Supreme Leadership Council, and Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub (Bemban).
In addition, nine Bersatu division chiefs were expelled, including Mohd Hassundi Hamzah (Larut), Yunus Nurdin (Libaran), Datuk Abdul Aziz Ismail (Dungun), Ahmad Nasir Mid (Selayang), Ahmad Ishak (Gopeng), Kamaruddin Majid (Teluk Intan), Datuk Zulkifli Bujang (Johor Bahru), Ramlan Meon (Tangga Batu), and Mhod Yunus Mhd Yusop (Tapah).
The party also removed Nabila Norsahar, head of Bersatu’s Sabah Young Srikandi, and Mohamad Shafiq Abdul Halim, head of Bersatu Hulu Langat’s communications division.
The high-profile expulsion of Hamzah and other leaders has drawn significant attention within party ranks, with supporters rallying around the ousted leaders as the political fallout continues to unfold. - February 14, 2026
