POLICE have rejected allegations circulating on social media that a soldier died after being bullied and beaten with wood and iron objects at a military camp in Kuantan.
Kuantan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said the serviceman was taken to hospital after reportedly losing consciousness and died while receiving treatment on Thursday.
However, preliminary police examinations found no visible injuries on the victim’s body.
“It is understood that the victim’s family lodged a report alleging that their son had been bullied.
“The investigating officer has conducted inquiries and, so far, found no criminal element in the death of the serviceman,” he said.
Ashari added that if the death had involved bullying and signs of physical injury, medical personnel would have lodged a police report to facilitate further investigation.
A post-mortem examination has since been carried out, with doctors confirming that the victim’s internal organs were in good condition and showed no signs of injury.
“The police are awaiting the chemistry report to determine the cause of death, and the case has been classified as a sudden death report pending the full findings,” he said.
Earlier, a Facebook account shared images of the victim receiving medical treatment, alleging that he had been bullied and assaulted with wooden and iron objects at a camp in the district. Police have urged the public not to speculate while investigations remain ongoing. - February 20, 2026
