TWO 25-year-old men have claimed trial at the Sessions Court in Klang to charges of raping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl at a rented house in Puncak Alam earlier this month.
Muhammad Irfan Mohamad, a sales executive, and Ahmad Hamzi Alias, a student at a public institution of higher learning, entered separate not guilty pleas after the charges were read before Judge Siti Aminah Ghazali.
According to the charge, Muhammad Irfan is alleged to have committed the offence against the teenager in a room at a rented house in Puncak Alam at 3pm on 6 February.
Ahmad Hamzi is accused of committing the same offence against the same victim at the same location at 5.30am on 7 February.
Both unmarried accused were charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provide for a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nuruliannah Aimi urged the court not to grant bail to either accused. However, should the court exercise its discretion to allow bail, she proposed RM20,000 with one surety for each man.
"It includes additional conditions to report to the police station every month and not to disturb the victim or prosecution witnesses," she said, appearing alongside Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurain Syafiqeen Mohd Rozi.
Counsel Mohd Safwan Saleh, representing Muhammad Irfan, appealed for a lower sum on the grounds that his client had only been in employment for a month, earning RM2,400, and was supporting his family in Kelantan.
He added that his client would cooperate and attend all court proceedings.
Counsel M Partiben, for Ahmad Hamzi, similarly sought a reduced bail amount, stating that his client was a public university student currently undergoing industrial training and remained financially dependent on his family from the B40 income group.
After hearing submissions from both sides, Judge Siti Aminah allowed bail of RM8,000 for Muhammad Irfan and RM7,000 for Ahmad Hamzi, each with one surety, together with the additional conditions sought by the prosecution.
The court fixed 9 April for further mention of the case. - February 20, 2026
