KUALA LUMPUR – Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali called on all civil servants to make 2021 the "year for acceleration towards civil service excellence".
He said the leap of excellence must be mobilised through the consolidation of human capital with future competencies, strengthening of a more flexible organisation, management and development of projects quickly and with high impact.
He said service delivery should also be based on digital technology and industrial revolution 4.0, as they are in line with the hopes and challenges expressed by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"This leap of excellence must be implemented based on the values of ‘Faith To Serve’ and driven by the principles of F.A.S.T.E.R, or flat, agile, streamlined, tech-enabled, efficient and resilient, which I have often stated before.
"Although, we are still trying to balance economic interests and well-being of the people with health and the threat of epidemics, I believe the dark pandemic twilight of 2020 will finally disappear, and the dawn of a new brighter future will continue to shine in 2021," he said on Facebook.
He said 2020 has lowered its curtain with a thousand and one episodes of challenges full of misery, obstacles and tests, but which were successfully waded through together.
It began with efforts to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw the government compelled to enforce the movement control order as well as ensure that every Malaysian remains resilient through an efficient and rapid economic and social strategy.
"We then continued to take proactive steps to restore the affected economy through four main initiatives, namely Prihatin, Prihatin SME PLUS, Penjana, Kita Prihatin and the implementation of Budget 2021, which was approved in Parliament recently," he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to all civil servants, including the frontliners and those working behind the scenes, such as those managing logistics and human resources, for working hard in battling the pandemic.
