A 13-YEAR-OLD girl was discovered lying in a pool of blood in a car park at an apartment complex in Gelugor, Penang, early this morning.

Medical personnel from the Ministry of Health Malaysia confirmed her death at the scene.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told reporters that they were unsure when the incident occurred.

The resident explained that around 9 am, while passing through the car park, a cleaning staff member alerted them to the presence of the girl.

“I do not know how long she had been lying there. There was a black bag nearby, and she was wearing a school sports uniform,” the witness said.

“I contacted the authorities, and when the ambulance arrived, the medical team confirmed that she had passed away. She is not a resident here; we understand she lives in Sungai Dua.”

The girl’s parents later arrived at the scene to identify her. They reportedly did not know how she ended up at the location.

Northeast District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad, said that investigations are ongoing.

“We are waiting for a more detailed report,” he said briefly via WhatsApp.

The tragic case has raised concerns among residents, as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s death. - February 25, 2026
