A MAN was seriously injured after being stabbed by a group of individuals riding motorcycles in front of a shopping mall on Jalan Kelawai, George Town, today.

Northeast District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad, said police received information regarding the incident at 8 am.

He said police investigations found the victim to be a 33-year-old local.

“The victim was seriously injured after being stabbed by a group of men believed to be locals riding motorcycles in front of the building’s lobby.

“The victim was then sent to the Penang Hospital (HPP) for further treatment,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Rozak said the case was being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, and the police were actively tracking down the suspects responsible.

“Members of the public with information regarding the case are asked to come forward to assist in the investigation,” he said.

Earlier, a video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the suspects fleeing on a motorcycle after stabbing the victim. – February 25, 2026
