THE country’s improving economic performance, underpinned by a strengthening ringgit and resilient growth indicators, is fostering a more positive national mood and reinforcing social harmony, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also President of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), said economic stability remains fundamental to preserving harmony in a diverse society such as Malaysia.
“The positive developments have become a catalyst for the people to continue to unite and support the aspirations of the MADANI Government… when we are part of the MADANI Government, we must preserve this spirit of harmony, and this diversity must be upheld together so that Malaysia remains peaceful,” he said in his address at an UMNO breaking-of-fast event.
He was joined by UMNO deputy president Mohamad Hasan, senior party leaders and representatives from the Barisan Nasional coalition.
His remarks followed the release of fresh data by the Department of Statistics Malaysia indicating that the economy is expected to remain resilient into the second quarter of 2026. The assessment was supported by the performance of the Leading Index for December 2025, which edged up by 0.1 per cent to 114.0 points, compared with 113.9 points in the same period a year earlier.
At the event, Ahmad Zahid also presented contributions to 50 orphans and tahfiz students from Rumah Anak Yatim Shifa, Rumah Titian Kaseh and the Tahfiz Academy of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Airport Mosque in Subang, underscoring what he described as the government’s continued commitment to social welfare alongside economic management. - February 27, 2026
