THE Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has confiscated goods valued at more than RM1 million in a nationwide crackdown to curb price manipulation and trade violations during the Ramadan and Aidilfitri season.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the enforcement campaign, known as Ops Pantau, which began on 19 February, recorded total seizures of RM1,093,810.65 as of last Thursday.
The operation involved 16,059 inspections at key locations across the country, including festive bazaars, public markets, wet markets, supermarkets, and retail outlets, with 295 offences identified.
“Out of the total 295 cases, 229 involved compound notices amounting to RM57,500. The most common violation was failure to display price tags, recorded in 143 cases, followed by offences relating to weighing and measuring equipment, with 78 cases,” Armizan said during a press briefing after launching the Sentuhan Kasih Programme, Jualan Rahmah MADANI, and a consumer advocacy initiative at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pengalat.
He stressed that enforcement would continue to be intensified throughout the operation to protect consumers during the high-spending festive period.
“Consumers are advised to continue acting as the eyes and ears of the ministry by reporting any unlawful activity through KPDN’s official complaint channels,” he added.
Regarding the Jualan Rahmah MADANI programme, Armizan said the ministry aims to organise 1,898 sales series across Malaysia throughout Ramadan, offering a range of essential wet and dry goods at affordable prices, including traditional delicacies for breaking fast.
“As of 28 February, 541 series of PJRM Ramadan sales have been conducted nationwide,” he said, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to accessible goods and consumer protection during the festive season. - February 28, 2026
