Govt integrates project monitoring systems to improve transparency and delivery under RMK13

THE Government has outlined steps to integrate its national project monitoring systems to improve oversight, transparency, and accountability, ensuring citizens can track the progress of development initiatives under the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMK13).

During a parliamentary session on 2 March 2026, Puan Isnarissah Munirah Majilis of Kota Belud asked the Minister of Economy how the MyRMK system could be integrated with the MyProjek ICU platform and how these systems could help the public understand the causes and factors behind delays in initiating new projects during the current year.

In reply, Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir exxplained that MyRMK, developed by the Ministry of Economy, is a regular monitoring mechanism designed to ensure that the Policy Implementation Plan (Pelan Pelaksanaan Dasar, PPD) — which contains all national key performance indicators (KPIs), strategies, and initiatives under RMK13 — is executed effectively by implementing agencies.

“The system ensures that policies and strategies under RMK13 are implemented according to the established KPIs. It also helps agencies plan more systematically, especially for initiatives involving cross-ministry coordination,” Akmal said.

The integration of MyRMK with MyProjek, overseen by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department, and with the MyBelanjawan system under the Ministry of Finance, is critical for aligning all requested projects and programmes with national KPIs and RMK13 strategies.

The combined operation of these three systems allows the Government to monitor the performance of RMK13 projects and programmes more holistically, transparently, and effectively.

The Minister added that all implementing agencies, including state governments and local authorities, are responsible for regularly updating the progress of RMK13 initiatives through MyRMK for reporting to committees up to the highest level, the Cabinet.

“Rigorous monitoring of each strategy and initiative under RMK13 enables the Government to intervene quickly and follow up decisively on emerging issues.

“Delays in starting or completing projects are specifically tracked through MyProjek and reported regularly to the Cabinet,” the Minister noted.

Akmal expressed hope that all stakeholders — ministries, departments, agencies, state governments, and local authorities — would fully cooperate in reporting their performance via MyRMK.

Such collaboration, Akmal emphasised, is essential to enhance the effectiveness of national development planning and to ensure that programmes and projects deliver tangible outcomes that directly benefit the public.

The integrated monitoring approach reflects the Government’s commitment to accountability, timely project delivery, and evidence-based interventions to address delays and improve public service outcomes. - March 2, 2026
