PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will come under sustained questioning in the Dewan Rakyat today over corruption asset recoveries and an alleged plot to topple the Government, as Parliament wraps up its first meeting of the fifth term.
Among the key issues expected to dominate proceedings is the total amount of money and assets recovered in 2025 by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in cases involving corruption and abuse of power. V. Ganabatirau (PH-Klang) is scheduled to press the prime minister for comprehensive figures, including comparative statistics before and after the establishment of the MADANI administration, during Minister’s Question Time.
The session is also set to feature questions on national security and political stability. Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) will seek an update on investigations by the Royal Malaysia Police into an alleged attempt to overthrow the Government, including whether the probe encompasses possible elements of embezzlement or misuse of public funds and the extent of any threat posed to parliamentary democracy.
Legislative standards will come under review when Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias (BN-Jelebu) asks the prime minister to outline how the Government ensures that Bills are drafted to the highest quality and not rushed through Parliament, particularly where they carry significant implications for individual rights and the economy.
Public health and social security issues are likewise on the agenda. Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (PN-Rompin) is expected to question the Health Minister on the latest data concerning non-communicable diseases among rural populations, as well as measures to curb the rising cost of dialysis treatment, including the expansion of satellite dialysis centres in smaller districts.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Ismi Mat Taib (PN-Parit) will call on the Home Minister to detail strategies to counter the increase in petty and property crimes in public housing estates, especially those in densely populated areas.
Beyond Question Time, the House will proceed with the second reading of the Constitution (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2026, which seeks to formalise the separation of the roles of Attorney General and Public Prosecutor — a move seen as a significant institutional reform.
