A 29-YEAR-OLD technician has changed his plea to guilty on seven charges of sexually assaulting three young girls and producing sexual abuse material involving the children two years ago.
Muhammad Imran Abdullah had initially claimed trial when first charged before the same court on 19 December last year.
He now admits to four counts of physical sexual assault, comprising one charge each involving a girl aged seven years and three months and another aged six years and two months, as well as two charges involving a five-year-old girl.
Represented by counsel Mohamed Imran Mohamed Sam and Amar Ajwad Kalki, the accused was charged under Sections 14(a) and 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping.
On a further three counts of producing sexual abuse material, he pleaded guilty to recording videos of the same three victims in a state of undress.
The charges were brought under Section 5 of the same Act, which provides for a maximum term of 30 years’ imprisonment and up to six strokes of the cane.
The offences were alleged to have been committed in a bedroom and at the side of a house in Kampung Pasir Putih, Pasir Gudang, between 10.30am and 11am on 5 April 2024.
The prosecution is being led by Deputy Public Prosecutors Nor Fadilah Johanuddin and Nur Farah Wahida Shahudin.
In earlier proceedings on 27 February, Muhammad Imran also changed his plea to guilty before the same court on three charges of trafficking three newborn babies aged between five and seven days, two years ago.
Those charges were framed under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for a sentence of between five years’ and life imprisonment, and whipping.
The court has fixed 13 March for the hearing of the facts of the case and sentencing, to run concurrently with proceedings in the baby trafficking matter. - March 4, 2026
