POLICE busted three drug trafficking syndicates through separate operations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor with a total seizure of drugs worth RM180.8 million.
Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) director Hussein Omar Khan said the success was achieved as a result of three operations conducted around the Klang Valley since March 2.
He said the biggest case involved the seizure of more than three tonnes of methamphetamine worth approximately RM170 million in an operation called 'Op Chrysogaster' on March 2.
"Based on intelligence information, JSJN Bukit Aman launched two series of raids and successfully arrested two local men aged 28 and 44 in Taman Gembira, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur," he told a press conference at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) today.
He said the first raid on a terrace house in Taman Gembira found 128 white sacks containing 3,205 packages of methamphetamine weighing 3,320.69kg and four packets of ecstasy pills weighing 1.4kg.
"Following that, police inspected a house in Taman Overseas Union Garden, Jalan Klang Lama and seized three white sacks and one yellow bag containing 79 packages of methamphetamine weighing 81.4kg.
"The total amount of methamphetamine seized was 3,402.18kg with an estimated value of RM170 million.
"The seized drugs could harm as many as 17 million people," he said.
He said the syndicate was believed to be active since last December, with the first suspect acting as a transporter, while the second suspect was a member of the syndicate.
He said the drugs were brought from the north of the peninsula using rented lorries before being stored in rented houses and marketed in the Klang Valley and abroad. "We believe this supply came from the Golden Triangle area and is likely to be sent to Sabah or nearby countries, namely Indonesia and the Philippines," he said.
In the second case, police found a warehouse in the Subang Industrial Park, Subang Jaya, which is believed to be used as an illegal drug processing laboratory.
Hussein said inspections found 214 barrels of liquid suspected of being chemicals, three barrels and five bottles of chemical powder, as well as several pieces of drug processing equipment.
"This syndicate is believed to have been active since October 2024 and used false identities to rent a warehouse at a rate of RM6,500 per month," he said.
In the third case, police arrested three local men aged 27 to 38 in a raid in Taman Sri Rampai on March 5.
"The results of an inspection of a lorry found 10 boxes containing cannabis flowers weighing 124.7 kg with an estimated value of RM10.2 million," he said.
All cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the death penalty, or life imprisonment and whipping if convicted. – March 9, 2026
