BADRUL Hisham Shaharin, popularly known as Che GuBard, has been expelled from Bersatu, receiving formal notification via WhatsApp from the party’s Disciplinary Board Secretary yesterday at 6 p.m.
Commenting on the decision, CheGuBard criticised the party for neglecting public interests, accusing it of serving only a select faction.
“As expected, around 6 p.m. yesterday, I was dismissed by the party through WhatsApp,” he told Berita Harian, adding that he intends to issue a formal statement tonight.
CheGuBard, who was appointed Port Dickson Bersatu chief in November 2024, reaffirmed his commitment to advocate for the rakyat and fight corruption.
He previously served as a PKR member before being expelled in 2016 and joined Bersatu in 2020.
On 10 March, Che GuBard disclosed that he had received a show-cause notice from the party’s Disciplinary Board over allegations that included damaging the party’s image through a media conference on 9 July last year and social media remarks referring to party leaders as “stooges” (“barua”) and fools (“mangkuk hayun”).
He declined to respond to the notice, dismissing the queries as unreasonable, and stated, “I do not wish to lower my intellect to answer those questions and am prepared to accept any decision from the Disciplinary Board.”
He further asserted that the party appears fully controlled, leaving members unable to express dissenting opinions, and that those who criticise the government assertively are treated as adversaries.
Challenging the party, he said, “If speaking out is considered an offence, I dare Bersatu to expel me,” warning that the Port Dickson division could face operational paralysis in the near future.
CheGuBard expressed concern that ongoing internal disputes within BERSATU could adversely affect the Perikatan Nasional coalition overall, signalling deeper factional tensions.
His expulsion follows the broader party turmoil after the removal of former Deputy President Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, which also saw senior figures such as former Vice President Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee and former Women’s Chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin expelled or suspended.
