THE government has strongly denied claims in a Bloomberg report on March 30 that the Prime Minister had instructed the special committee to avoid immediately releasing a report on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki's shareholdings.
In a statement today, Chief Secretary Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said following the tabling of the committee's report in the Cabinet meeting on 11 March, proceedings have been initiated under the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.
“These proceedings have processes and procedures that must be followed. Any further updates will be provided from time to time," he said.
The Attorney General's Chambers will also take further action against Bloomberg in relation to the claims.
Bloomberg had earlier reported that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was concerned that making the shareholding report public would undermine perceptions of his government ahead of a possible general election that could come as early as this year, they said. – March 31, 2026
