KEPALA BATAS – While a string of Umno divisions today rejected cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Bersatu, the Kepala Batas division has resolved that the party has to stay with the ruling coalition.

Its division chief Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the delegates decided that the party should continue the status quo and not allow the opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH) to return to power.

“This is the decision of the division. However the party supreme council will decide on the matter,” he said.

He was responding when asked by reporters about Penang Umno chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir’s statement that 12 Umno divisions in the state had passed a resolution to quit working with Bersatu and PN.

Youth and Sports Reezal Merican, who is also the Kepala Batas MP, said he will abide by the eventual decision taken by the party leadership.

“This is the decision of the delegates in the division and the question of (working with) Bersatu is a call by the party.

“I am a party man, however I cannot represent the party to make a decision on this matter. Let the party make the decision,” he said.

He said the delegates at the division’s meeting today took an oath to make Kepala Batas an Umno fort and prevent the return of PH to power. – The Vibes, January 3, 2021
