AN army captain has been charged in court with murder over a fatal drink-driving crash on the Maju Expressway (MEX) that killed a Bangladeshi gaming content creator known online as “Advance Gaming”.
The accused, identified as 31-year-old Jad Faid Arhan, nodded to indicate understanding when the murder charge was read before Magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan at a court in Kuala Lumpur.
He arrived at the court complex at about 9.33am wearing a red shirt and jeans, and was escorted in handcuffs under heavy police security.
The soldier is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code over the death of Muzahid Millad, aged 22, who died in the early morning collision on April 23.
The provision carries the death penalty, or, if not imposed, imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, along with whipping.
He also faces two additional charges under Section 44 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of alcohol above the legal limit and for causing injury to both an e-hailing driver and a passenger.
These offences carry imprisonment of three to 10 years and fines ranging from RM8,000 to RM20,000.
No plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The accused is expected to be represented by lawyer Muhammad Nazreen Jaafar Abdullah.
Court documents state that the crash occurred at about 5.30am at KM1.9 of the MEX Highway from Salak Selatan towards Jalan Tun Razak, when the suspect allegedly veered into the opposite lane before colliding with an e-hailing vehicle.
Muzahid, a popular online gaming creator, died instantly while travelling with his wife. She survived but was injured, along with the e-hailing driver and a female companion of the accused.
Police investigations found that a breathalyser test on the suspect recorded alcohol levels above the permitted legal limit.
Attorney-General Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar had earlier indicated that further charges may be considered in relation to injuries sustained by other victims in the crash. - April 30, 2026
