A YOUNG businesswoman has been left traumatised after her rented home in Taman Scientex Jasin Mutiara was allegedly targeted in a suspected intimidation incident linked to an illegal moneylender, commonly known as an “Ah long”.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 2pm on Saturday, when unknown individuals are believed to have thrown a bottle of chilli sauce in front of the house and hurled a brick at the windscreen of her Proton Persona.

According to sources, the 25-year-old victim only became aware of the incident after her landlord was informed by neighbours of suspicious activity outside the property.

It is understood that the woman had previously dealt with an individual offering quick loans via the WhatsApp messaging application.

“The victim is said to have agreed to take a RM10,000 loan in mid-April, before receiving RM6,500 and making repayments in stages.

“However, she later took a second loan amounting to RM20,000 and received RM15,000 in instalments, and was required to follow a fixed repayment schedule,” the source said.

The situation is believed to have escalated after the victim allegedly failed to meet repayment demands.

She was subsequently subjected to threats, including warnings that images of her family home in Pontian, Johor, would be sent out and that her personal information would be exposed.

On the day of the incident, the suspect is also said to have sent a message claiming the victim had received a “gift”, believed to be a reference to the acts of vandalism.

“The victim also found three written notices demanding that the debt be settled, believed to have been left by the suspect at the scene. Fearing for her own safety and that of her family, she lodged a police report yesterday,” the source added.

Jasin District Police Chief, Superintendent Lee Robert, confirmed the incident and said the case is being investigated under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951 for harassment of borrowers.

Police are continuing investigations to identify those involved in the case. - May 4, 2026
