JOHOR State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker, Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, confirmed that the notice of dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly had been sent to the Election Commission (EC) today.

This was informed by Mohd Puad, who is also the Rengit State Assemblyman (ADUN), when contacted by Sinar Harian.

The notice informed that the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly had received the consent of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail.

"In this regard, a notice of dissolution of the assembly was submitted to the EC today.

"It is hereby informed that His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail, Regent of Johor, has consented to dissolving the Johor State Assembly on 1 June 2026," he said in an official letter to the EC Chairman.

Previously, the Election Commission (EC) said it would meet for the Johor State Election (PRN) as soon as it receives official notification of the dissolution from the Speaker of the state assembly.

EC Chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the meeting would discuss important dates for the PRN.

On Monday evening, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced that the Johor DUN would be dissolved effective yesterday to pave the way for a PRN.

He said the dissolution was carried out after receiving a letter of consent from the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, in an audience held on Monday. – June 2, 2026
