DATUK Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa have been appointed as PKR vice presidents.
PKR information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the appointments were made at the party’s political bureau and central leadership council monthly meeting in Batu Pahat, Johor, yesterday.
Saifuddin was previously PKR secretary-general, while Zaliha is currently Johor PKR chairman.
"It (the appointment) is to further strengthen and consolidate the party's organisation and work at the central level," he said in a statement today.
Fahmi said the PKR Political Bureau and Central Leadership Council also decided that the Keadilan Annual Congress, which was initially scheduled for June 26 to 28, would be postponed to August 14 to 16, while its location would still be at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), Ayer Keroh.
"This postponement was made to give space, especially to Johor and Negeri Sembilan PKR to enhance their preparedness in facing the upcoming state elections (PRN)," he said.
PKR president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is also scheduled to launch the state PH machinery for the 16th Johor state election tonight.
Previously, PH Johor announced that it would contest all 56 state legislative assembly (DUN) seats in this election.
In the 2022 Johor state election, BN won 40 state seats, while PH (12), Perikatan Nasional (three) and MUDA (one).
The Johor state assembly was dissolved on June 1 after receiving the consent of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail. – June 8, 2026
