PKFZ secures RM566 million in new investments
Smart industrial expansion strengthens Malaysia’s regional trade hub - June 18, 2026

THE Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) has attracted RM566 million in new investments through a series of strategic industrial projects and digital infrastructure initiatives, underscoring growing investor confidence in Malaysia's logistics sector and strengthening the country's ambition to become a leading regional trade and manufacturing hub.

The investment milestone was marked by the pre-launch of Wisma Golden Horse, the Q Centre @ PKFZ Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ), the official opening of Suntek Materials Sdn Bhd's manufacturing facility, the launch of the Golden Horse Rubber Phase 2 factory, and the introduction of the PKFZ Smart Intelligence Industrial Park.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who officiated the ceremony, said the developments demonstrate the continued attractiveness of PKFZ as a destination for international investment while supporting economic growth, employment creation and export expansion.

“PKFZ has emerged as a pioneer in digital logistics by becoming Malaysia's first free zone to integrate the Free Zone Management System (FZMS), Automated Gate Operation System (AGOS), Digital Port Pass and multiple operational platforms into a unified digital ecosystem,” Loke said.

"The adoption of a 'Single Window' ecosystem, together with FZAS (Free Zone Administration System), AI-aided smart CCTV, and drone monitoring, reflects PKFZ's commitment towards innovation, operational excellence, and its vision of becoming a future-ready regional trade and logistics hub."

Loke added that the management had successfully revitalised 86 per cent of commercial space that had remained underutilised for almost two decades, transforming dormant assets into productive facilities.

"The team has successfully reactivated 86% of commercial spaces that had remained underutilised for nearly two decades. Now, two blocks of eight-storey office buildings have been converted to CLQ and managed by Q Centre Management (Westport) Sdn Bhd."

"Then, an eight-storey hotel was leased to Golden Horse Rubber as their regional corporate office and now renamed as Wisma Golden Horse."

Loke added that the transformation has contributed to PKFZ recording its highest-ever revenue of RM108 million in 2025 while container throughput rose 14.9 per cent to 110,467 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the first five months of 2026.

Loke also highlighted the continued expansion of Chinese investment within PKFZ, with occupied industrial space exceeding 3.18 million square feet by January 2026. China-linked businesses handled 88,070 TEUs in 2025, accounting for 20 per cent of the zone's total throughput.

He noted that China remains PKFZ's largest source of imports, reflecting the strengthening economic and trade relationship between Malaysia and China.

Port Klang Free Zone Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Priscilla Lim said the latest investments would significantly enhance PKFZ's competitiveness while reinforcing Malaysia's supply chain resilience and attracting more high-value foreign direct investment.

The newly launched Q Centre @ PKFZ Centralised Labour Quarters has capacity to accommodate up to 6,000 workers and is expected to address growing accommodation demand, with more than 15,000 employees currently working within the free zone, around one-quarter of whom are foreign workers.

The ceremony also marked the official opening of Suntek Materials Sdn Bhd, a China-based manufacturer producing Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) flooring and fencing products.

The RM50 million investment began large-scale production in May 2026 after completing preparations that commenced in September 2025. Its products are destined for export markets including the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, further strengthening Malaysia's high-value manufacturing exports.

Meanwhile, the newly launched Smart Intelligence Industrial Park introduces an integrated digital platform developed in collaboration with Leadcom (M) Sdn Bhd and RYZEN Esolutions (M) Sdn Bhd.

The initiative centres on the Free Zone Management System, which serves as a comprehensive "Single Window" platform for free zone import, export and value-added activity declarations while integrating container permit administration, entry pass management, compliance monitoring, machinery and cargo tracking, complaint handling and real-time operational oversight.

The digital transformation is expected to improve efficiency, strengthen regulatory compliance and position PKFZ as one of Southeast Asia's most technologically advanced logistics and industrial hubs. - June 18, 2026
