PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took time to respond to a student who called him 'Uncle Anwar' and invited him to attend Canteen Day at his school on Saturday.

Through a post on the Threads app, Anwar announced that he would like to accept the student's invitation.

However, he apologised by stating that he could not attend due to business in Brunei.

"Wassalam. I want to go, but sorry I'm in Brunei on Saturday. I pray that the Canteen Day goes smoothly.

"Don't buy too many snacks," he advised in jest when responding to the student's invitation on Friday.

Earlier, a nursery school teacher via the account @ aqilkmzmn shared the story of how her student tried to invite Anwar to attend the Canteen Day program scheduled to take place on Saturday.

A student at Al Sakeenah Learning Centre asked if the Prime Minister could be invited to the ‘Hari Usahawan Cilik’ program.

"Last week, one of my students asked if he could invite PMX to come to ‘Hari Usahawan Cilik’.

"We also said that if you succeed in making PMX come, I will give you 100 points on ClassDojo (as a reward). Then he just went ahead and invited PM," read the post. – August 21, 2026
