A FATHER has been sentenced to 39 years in prison and 10 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to a charge of raping his biological daughter until she became pregnant at the Special Court for Sexual Crimes Against Children, today.

The 46-year-old accused pleaded guilty after the charge was read out to him before Judge Datin M. Kunasundary.

The man was charged with three counts of rape, and the court ordered the prison sentence for each charge to be served separately.

According to the charges, he is accused of raping the victim around early 2024, late 2024, and this month, at a house in Putrajaya.

All charges were brought under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of between 10 and 30 years and whipping, if convicted.

During the proceedings, the accused requested the judge's discretion to reduce his sentence, but Kunasundary argued that the sentence should truly teach the accused and the community a lesson so that they do not commit similar offences.

"In imposing this sentence, the court is aware that the accused pleaded guilty on the first date he was brought before the court.

"However, the offence committed by the accused is very heinous, and the suffering experienced by a child since the age of 12 cannot be ignored.

"The accused's behaviour is like a child molester," she stressed.

In addition to the prison sentence and caning, Kunasundary also imposed an additional order by ordering the accused to undergo rehabilitation counselling while in prison and police supervision for two years after the end of the sentence.

Based on the facts of the case, the rape incident was discovered after the accused took the victim to a hospital for examination and found that the victim was six weeks and four days pregnant.

Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus reportedly said that they received a report regarding the incident from a medical officer on June 18. – June 25, 2026
