EIGHT people were injured in a three-vehicle collision involving a lorry along Kilometer 94 of the North–South Expressway southbound near here at about 8.50am on Sunday.

Guar Chempedak Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Superintendent Mohd Happyzam Abd Rasid said the department received an emergency call at 8.56am reporting the incident.

He said firefighters arrived at the scene at 9.14am and found that a 56-year-old female driver had been trapped inside a Perodua Myvi.

“The victim, who was driving the Perodua Myvi, was successfully extricated but suffered semi-critical injuries involving her head, shoulder and legs,” he said.

He added that the remaining seven victims, aged between 16 and 49, including a foreign man in his 30s, sustained only minor injuries.

The accident involved a Perodua Myvi carrying two women, a seven-tonne lorry with two male occupants, and a Toyota Noah carrying four passengers.

“The two men in the lorry were sent to hospital using a Ministry of Health vehicle, while the other victims were transported either via Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) or private vehicles,” he said.

A total of eight firefighters were deployed to the scene, supported by a Fire Rescue Tender unit and an EMRS ambulance.

Mohd Happyzam said cleanup works were carried out after the rescue operation, and the scene was cleared before operations ended at 10.05am. - June 28, 2026
