SINGER Bella Astillah has voiced emotional support for her fiancé, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, as he awaits the Federal Court’s final decision on whether he will remain acquitted or face imprisonment over corruption-related charges.
In an Instagram post shared on the eve of the judgment, Bella prayed for a favourable outcome and for the court proceedings to proceed smoothly.
“Tomorrow (today) is a very significant day after such a long wait. I pray that truth, justice and peace will always be with YB Syed Saddiq. May Allah ease every matter, lift every burden, and grant him the strength to face this meaningful day.
“Sometimes the journey in search of justice is not easy. It tests our hearts, patience and faith in Allah’s plan. But I believe every trial carry wisdom, and every sincere prayer is never in vain... God willing,” she wrote.
She added that she hoped hardship would ultimately be replaced with relief and happiness.
“May those who are truthful and sincere continue to be protected. May justice be on the side of those who struggle with sincerity,” she said.
Syed Saddiq acknowledged the message in the comments section, thanking her for her continued support.
“Thank you for always standing faithfully by my side,” he wrote, accompanied by a heart emoji.
The Federal Court is scheduled to deliver its decision at 9am on Tuesday, concluding a closely watched six-year legal battle that has become one of Malaysia’s most prominent political corruption cases.
The prosecution is seeking to overturn a Court of Appeal decision that unanimously acquitted Syed Saddiq, and to reinstate the High Court’s November 9, 2023 ruling, which found him guilty on four charges involving criminal breach of trust, dishonest misappropriation of property and money laundering linked to funds belonging to Bersatu’s youth wing, Armada.
The High Court had sentenced him to seven years in prison, two strokes of the rotan and a RM10 million fine.
In a Facebook post published on the eve of the verdict, Syed Saddiq said he was prepared to face the outcome after years of legal proceedings.
“Six years I’ve been fighting for justice. I was investigated. I was sued. Until finally, in the Court of Appeal, the court ruled with a unanimous decision. 3-0. I was completely freed,” he wrote.
He said he had never sought political intervention or special treatment throughout the case.
“Tomorrow (today), I will once again stand up not to run away from the system, not to seek sympathy, but to defend my name, principles, and dignity. I faced it head-on. I dared to fight because my conscience is clear.”
Syed Saddiq also urged Malaysians not to lose faith in the country’s judicial system.
“To the people of Malaysia, I ask for one thing. Do not give up hope in this country. Continue to speak up, continue to fight for justice... even if we are forced to stand alone.”
He concluded by saying he was leaving his fate to divine judgment.
“I have fought with all my might. I have defended justice with all my might. Now I hand it all over to Allah. Because after humans have sinned, Allah is the best judge. Pray for me,” he said.
A three-judge panel of the Federal Court comprising Court of Appeal President Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Jais, Justice Datuk Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali and Justice Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah will deliver the final ruling, which will determine whether Syed Saddiq walks free or serves the sentence imposed by the High Court. - June 30, 2026
