Rahmah sales programme expands nationwide with over 15,800 events in 1st half of 2026

THE government has significantly expanded the reach of the Jualan Rahmah Madani Programme, recording 15,881 sales initiatives nationwide between January and June 2026, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

In a written parliamentary reply, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the programme had been implemented across all 600 state constituencies and 40 zones in the Federal Territories, covering Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

Perak recorded 1,304 events during the same period, while the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary constituency saw 43 sessions, including 21 in Bukit Chandan and 22 in Manong.

The ministry also highlighted that event coverage had expanded steadily in recent years, with 6,870 events in 2023, rising to 12,419 in 2024 and 25,708 in 2025, reflecting what it described as growing public demand and increased government allocation.

For 2026, the initial target of 23,040 events has been revised upwards to 30,000 following an announcement by the Prime Minister in May, citing the need for economic intervention amid disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict.

The ministry said the programme has been institutionalised under the MADANI administration as a permanent budgeted initiative, with dedicated funding and activity codes under the Rahmah agenda, marking a shift away from previous ad hoc price-reduction initiatives.

It also noted that implementation is now structured through annual targets by constituency and zone, with broader participation from private retailers, cooperatives and businesses. As of June 29, a total of 2,695 retail partners are involved nationwide.

To improve accessibility, the events are conducted in multiple formats, including in-store, off-site static sales points, mobile units, and themed sales tied to paydays, festive periods and school openings, reaching both urban and rural communities.

The ministry has also introduced a national PJRM calendar since 2025, allowing the public to check schedules in advance by constituency, including dates, times and locations, in an effort to improve planning and participation. - June 30, 2026
