KUALA Lumpur police have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the highest level of operational readiness, stressing that the force "never sleeps" in safeguarding public security across the capital.
The commitment was demonstrated through the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters' (IPK) monthly assembly, which was held at night as a symbolic reminder of the force's around-the-clock responsibility to protect the city.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the evening assembly was intended to send a clear message that policing in the capital is a continuous 24-hour operation.
He said Kuala Lumpur's status as a densely populated metropolitan city meant that many criminal incidents occurred at night, requiring officers to remain on constant alert and ready for deployment at any time.
"We want to send a message that Kuala Lumpur never sleeps. Police duties here continue 24 hours a day, day and night.
"This monthly assembly held at night is not intended to disrupt operations. Instead, it reflects the police working culture, where officers remain constantly active because many operations, intelligence activities and investigations are carried out during these hours," he told reporters after attending the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters' monthly assembly.
Fadil said it was the second time the monthly assembly had been held at night following encouragement and support from the Inspector-General of Police and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
He said the initiative would continue as a reflection of the Royal Malaysia Police's (PDRM) ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and visitors in the capital remain at the highest level. - July 22, 2026
