12 officers, police personnel arrested in RM2 million extortion case

A TOTAL 12 officers and police personnel of various ranks were arrested after being suspected of extorting RM2 million from a Chinese man.

According to reports, the victim, however, only managed to pay RM560,000 before deciding to lodge a police report.

“The police also recovered some of the money believed to be related to the case,” said sources.

The victim then came forward to lodge a report at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters.

It is understood that a total of 12 officers and police personnel were arrested, some of whom were Deputy Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents and other ranks.

Meanwhile, Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, confirmed the arrest. – July 26, 2026
